Bonsai and my travelogue

Ian of NIBS works hard running the society and looking after my trees while I am getting fried in Dubai. Lately there was an exhibition organised in Hillside Nursery Centre in Newtownabbey in NI and run by our Bonsai Club and Ian has put my little Japanese White Pine in the show! so cool!

W czasie gdy ja smażę się w Dubaju Ian z NIBS ciężko pracuje prowadząc nasz Klub Bonsai oraz zajmując się moimi drzewkami. Niedawno odbyła się wystawa Bonsai zorganizowana przez nasz klub w Hillside Nursery Centre w Newtownabbey w Irlandii Północnej i Ian zaszczycił mnie wystawiając moją małą białą sosnę japońską na wystawie! Super! Wielkie dzięki Ian!

Peter Warren has visited NIBS over the weekend.

He started with a tree critique at the club meeting on Friday. Saturday was the main workshop  for members with smaller workshop on Sunday; all fully subscribed.  Everyone was impressed with Peter’s knowledge and his manner in delivering that knowledge.

My bonsai club – NIBS – had a display at Dobbies Garden Centre in Lisburn lately.
Unfortunately, due to crazy long work hours, I had no chance to go there and help my dudes with it , not to mention I have been not to able to exhibiting my trees…. it supposed to be the very first time my trees would be shown out to the world…

The good thing is it was a great success, Ian and other guys were very busy, as usual, doing their tree critiques and demos and potential new members were flooding the place.

W Dobbies Garden Centre w Lisburn miała miejsce wystawa bonsai mojego klubu – NIBS.
Niestety z powodu wariackich godzin pracy, nie byłem w stanie dotrzeć na miejsce i pomóc kumplom w organizowaniu wystawy, że nie wspomne, że miał to być  pierwszy raz,  kiedy moje drzewka byłyby wystawione na widok publiczny… szkoda, szkoda, szkoda…

Wystawa okazała się wielkim sukcesem, Ian i chłopaki mieli jak zwykle ręce pełne pracy z omawianiem drzew oraz pokazami formowania, a potencjalni nowi członkowie “napływali drzwiami i oknami”.

“After the success of our Winter Display at Dobbies Garden Centre in Lisburn, we are repeating the process again at the end of the month. This time we will be holding it over two days instead of one. Demos will be taking place during both days and roughly 30 bonsai will be on display.

The Saturday 28th starts at 10am and will run until 5pm. Sunday 29th starts at 1pm and will finish at 5pm.”

Last Wednesday I went to Northern Ireland to visit my bonsai friends and spend the day with them and have a look at their bonsai trees and gardens… and play with their dogs too…

After morning coffee in Ian’s place and few moments in his garden we went to Stephen house.
Stephen has a great collection of bonsai; his ‘Satsuki’ Azalea, two Larches and little ‘Deshojo’ maple caught my eyes instantly… and of course his funny little dog

Ostatniej środy wybrałem się do Irlandii Północnej by spędzić dzień z moimi znajomymi i pobuszować w ich ogrodach wśród ich bonsai… oraz pobawić sie z ich pociechami…

Po szybkiej kawce u Ian’s wybraliśmy się do domu Stephen’a, który posiada niezłą kolekcję bonsai; wśród nich moją szczególną uwagę zwróciły: Azalia ‘Satsuki’, dwa modrzewie, mały klon ‘Deshojo’ oraz jego zabawny pies

Our next stop was at Phil’s dad place where they keep most of their trees and Koi carps. After small coffee-and-sweet break we drove to Phil’s house to see the rest of his collection.

Nasz kolejny przystanek był w ogrodzie ojca Phil’a gdzie oboje hodują bonsai oraz karpie Koi. Po kolejnej kawce ze słodkim wybraliśmy się do domu Phil’a aby przyjżeć się reszcie jego kolekcji.

Finally we all went back to Ian’s garden where we had a late but well deserved lunch. After the meal Ian has started to work on Stephen’s Cotoneaster, I was wondering with my camera around Ian’s stunning collection while Phil has fallen asleep with lil break for some wiring…

Na samym końcu wróciliśmy wszyscy do domu Ian’a gdzie po późnym ale zasłużonym lunchu Ian zabrał sie do pracy nad Irgą Stephena, ja zacząłem buszować po jego ogrodzie z aparatem a Phil poszedł spać z małą przerwą na chwile pracy z jednym z jego drzew…

I have joined the Northern Ireland Bonsai Society earlier this month. Below you can find the pictures taken at the NIBS garage meeting. Thanks to courtesy of Ian – NIBS’ Chairman we all could meet up last night in his garage and work together on our trees in very relaxed atmosphere. I have created my Forest / Group planting out of 4 different varieties of Japanese Maples. My main goal was to create a group which will change colour over the diferrent seasons of the year. Now I just need to wait for Spring!

Na początku miesiąca zostałem członkiem NIBS. Poniżej możecie znaleźć zdjęcia z naszego garażowego spotkania. Dzięki uprzejmości i gościnności Ian’a, przewodniczacego klubu, który udostepnił nam swój garaż mieliśmy możliwość spotkania się  w bardzo rozluźnionej atmosferze. Ja pracowałem nad swoja grupą klonów japońskich złożoną z 4 różnych odmian. Moim głownym celem było stworzenie grupy, która bedzie zmieniała kolory ulistnienia w różnych porach roku. Teraz muszę uzbroić się w cierpliwość i poczekać do wiosny.
Dzięki raz jeszcze Ian!
